The Organisation:
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of change!  This highly successful Engineering/Manufacturing business has recently been purchased by a global industry leader and are seeking a hands-on, commercially minded Finance Manager to lead the finance function for its Australian operations.

The Position:
This is a great opportunity to take ownership of a broad finance function while partnering with senior leaders locally and internationally.  You will be responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of finance activities, including accounting, financial reporting, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, compliance and project accounting.

Reporting both to The CFO and Australian MD you will lead a growing finance team and work closely with organisation’s Global Finance team.  You will play an important role in improving processes and supporting the business as it continues to grow and integrate with a larger global organisation.

The Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the day-to-day finance activities including end to end payroll and month-end close.
  • Manage accurate and timely financial reporting and management accounts.
  • Provide financial analysis and commercial insights to senior leadership.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and financial planning.
  • Manage project accounting and Percentage of Completion (POC) revenue recognition
  • Review project profitability, backlog and margins.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a growing finance team.
  • Partner with operational and commercial leaders to support business performance and decision-making.
  • Work closely with the global finance team on reporting, forecasting, controls and finance transformation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls and increase efficiency

The Requirements:

  • Strong previous experience in a similar role with experience in a project-based, engineering, manufacturing or industrial environment a definite advantage
  • CPA, CA or equivalent professional accounting qualification
  • Experience in managing a small team
  • Strong knowledge of Australian accounting, payroll, tax and statutory requirements.
  • Strong financial reporting and analytical capabilities.
  • Advanced Excel skills, MYOB and Workday knowledge an advantage
  • Experience with POC revenue recognition is desirable.
